Tara Skeens, 35, of Spencerville, one of the victims from Wednesday night's crash at SR 197 and Conant (Co-nant) Road in Auglaize County, died Monday, Lt. J.D. Westerfield of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Wapakoneta Post confirmed Tuesday.

Skeens was a passenger in a Chevy pickup that was hit by a Honda SUV in the intersection. Both vehicles left the roadway and entered a cornfield, with the pickup coming to rest on its roof.

The driver of the pickup, 35-year-old Michael Makar, also from Spencerville, was released from the hospital last week. The driver of the SUV, Jeffrey Odenweller, 22, of Elida, remains hospitalized. All three crash victims had been transported to Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

According to the State Patrol, Odenweller failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection, causing the accident. Alcohol is suspected; however, troopers are awaiting toxicology results, which Lt. Westerfield said could take up to a month, before the formal filing of charges.
