IN NORTHWEST OHIO, A US SUPREME COURT RULING HAS AFFECTED STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO WHO RELY ON SCHOLARSHIPS.
DOZENS OF MINORITY BASED SCHOLARSHIPS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO ARE NOW FROZEN, WHICH MEANS THAT THEY CANNOT GET ACCESS TO THEM NOW. UNIVERSITY OFFICIALS SAY THIS ALL STEMS FROM A 2023 SUPREME COURT RULING. 73 OF THEM IN FACT. THAT'S ACCORDING TO THE UNIVERSITY, THOSE 73 ARE WORTH NEARLY HALF A MILLION DOLLARS. THEY WERE PAUSED AFTER A JUNE 2023 SUPREME COURT RULING WHICH FOUND THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AND HARVARD UNIVERSITY'S RACE BASED ADMISSION STANDARDS WERE UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
