Mercer and Auglaize Counties COVID-19 report for 9-15-20


CELINA- As of September 15, 2020, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) reports 928 confirmed cases, 66 probable cases, 831 recovered cases, 72 pending cases, 3,165 negative cases, 8 hospitalizations, 16 deaths, and 2 probable deaths of COVID-19. Currently, there are 78 active cases of COVID-19 in Mercer County.

 

As of today, The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) reports Mercer County has seen 223.5 new cases per 100,000 residents over the past two weeks. This is an increase from last week’s report of 206.45 new cases per 100,000 residents. Mercer County is also now ranked #2 in the state for Ohio counties ranked by highest incidence. Mercer County is trending in the wrong direction with continued confirmed cases. We need the people of Mercer County to contribute to a community-wide effort to control the spread of this virus and protect our most vulnerable friends, family, and neighbors.

 

We urge the citizens of Mercer County to comply with all orders, maintain social distancing of at least 6 ft. from non-household members, wear a face covering, follow good hygiene practices, stay home when sick, and limit the size of gatherings.

The Auglaize County Health Department (ACHD) continues to see a rise in new cases of COVID-19 in Auglaize County. COVID-19 is community spread and affecting ALL areas of the county. ACHD pleads to the citizens of Auglaize County to take the precautions to protect themselves and those around them from the spread of COVID-19. We need cooperation from the public to slow the spread of the virus in our community.

The new cases to report are: the 552nd case is a 55 year old male, the 553rd case is an 82 year old female that is hospitalized, the 554th case is a 48 year old female, the 555th case is a 30 year old female, the 556th case is an 18 year old male, and the 557th case is an 82 year old female. Unless otherwise noted, all cases are self-isolating at home.

Precautions must be taken by the public whenever leaving the home as COVID-19 cases are rising in Auglaize County. It is vital that we all continue social distancing in order to prevent the spread of the virus; when in public areas wear a mask as an added layer of prevention; and stay home if you are not feeling well or have had known exposure to COVID-19.
