Two Drivers Seriously Injured in Auglaize County Crash

Two Drivers Seriously Injured in Auglaize County Crash

Two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash early Monday morning in Saint Marys Township.

The Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened at approximately 5:03 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 219 and Plattner Pike.

According to the preliminary investigation, 18-year-old Noah J. Carte of New Bremen was driving a 2005 Hyundai Sonata north on Plattner Pike. Troopers say the Hyundai failed to stop at the posted stop sign and was struck by an eastbound 2010 Honda CR-V driven by 49-year-old Jamie A. O’Neal of Saint Marys.

The Honda traveled off the north side of State Route 219 and stopped in an agricultural field. The Hyundai went off the south side of the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts and suffered serious injuries. Carte and O’Neal were transported by Saint Marys Township EMS to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

Saint Marys Township Fire and EMS, Tops Towing and Nelson’s Towing assisted at the scene.

The Highway Patrol says alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors. The crash remains under investigation by the Wapakoneta Post.
