Celina Council to Consider School Safety Agreements, Radio Purchase Monday

The Celina City Council will meet Monday evening with several public safety items topping the agenda.

Council members will consider ordinances authorizing agreements with Celina City Schools for emergency services and police services. They will also vote on a proposal allowing the police chief to enter into a contract with Sunny Communications for the purchase of Motorola radios for the police department.

Also on Monday's agenda are four ordinances receiving their third and final readings. Those include requests to rezone property at 110 North Cherry Street from a General Business District to a Medium Density Residential District, rezone property at 1800 Industrial Drive to a Manufacturing District, eliminate one Battalion Chief/Paramedic position while creating an Assistant Fire Chief position, and establish a salary schedule for that new position.

The meeting follows a Utilities Committee meeting at 6 p.m. and public hearings scheduled for 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. City Council meets at 7 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building on North Main Street.
