Coldwater police resolve armed mental health crisis without incident

Coldwater police safely took a 71-year-old woman into protective custody following a brief standoff Wednesday on East Vine Street.

Police Chief Kevin Wynk said officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Vine Street on July 22 for a report of an armed woman experiencing a mental health crisis.

After a brief standoff at the residence, officers took the woman into protective custody. She was transported for a mental health evaluation without further incident.

No injuries were reported.

The Coldwater Police Department thanked the St. Henry Police Department, Rockford Police Department and Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for assisting at the scene.
