Ohio National Guard to hold public muster celebrating America’s 250th anniversary

The Ohio National Guard will host a public muster at the Ohio Statehouse to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States and the 238th anniversary of the Ohio National Guard.

The free public event will be held Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Statehouse in Columbus.

Visitors will have an opportunity to meet Ohio National Guard soldiers and airmen while viewing military vehicles, modern equipment and historical displays. The event will also include aircraft flyovers and reenactors portraying figures from military history.

The 2026 muster is modeled after large public exhibitions held at the Statehouse during the mid-20th century. Those events combined hands-on demonstrations with displays comparing historic and modern military equipment.

Traditional military musters date back to the 17th century and served as public gatherings that connected local military units with the communities they served.
