Ohio Updates Infectious Disease Dashboard

The Ohio Department of Health has updated its online dashboard tracking infectious diseases across the state.

The latest update includes new case counts for cyclosporiasis, along with more than 100 other infectious diseases monitored by the department.

The dashboard allows users to select a timeframe dating back to 2001 and search by individual disease, group of diseases or county. Additional sections provide information on when illnesses began and the demographics of reported patients.

The dashboard is generally updated each Thursday afternoon. The next update is scheduled for July 23.

To help prevent cyclosporiasis, health officials recommend washing hands with soap and water before and after preparing raw fruits and vegetables.

Produce should be thoroughly washed under running water, while firm fruits and vegetables, including melons, should be scrubbed with a clean produce brush. Cut, peeled or cooked fruits and vegetables should be eaten or refrigerated promptly.
