LIA Bar Stool Open Set For August 8th At Grand Lake St. Marys

The Lake Improvement Association will host its 25th annual Bar Stool Open on Saturday, August 8th, at bars around Grand Lake St. Marys.

The four-person team miniature golf tournament includes stops at 12 different lake bars. The event also features a T-shirt contest, costume contest, pontoon and boat decorating contest, and photo contest.

Tee time is 9 a.m. Teams can play by land or by water, and the event will be held rain or shine. The cost is $120 per team, or $100 per team for early bird registration by August 2nd.

Participating bars include Celina Moose, Shingle Shack, Behm’s, Celina Eagles, Bayview, Duckfoot’s, It’s It, Boardwalk Grill, South Shore Sportsman Club, Lakeside Hideout, Buoy’s Bar & Grill, and Sloopy’s.

On the morning of the event, teams will pick up their scorecards at the bar where they registered, then can start from any participating bar.

A prize party will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 9th, at the Celina Eagles. Prizes will be awarded for mini golf, pontoon decorating, T-shirts, costumes, and photos. The photo contest can be entered by posting photos during the event on the LIA Facebook page and using the hashtag #BSO2026.

All proceeds from the fundraiser go toward the improvement of Grand Lake St. Marys. The LIA says funds raised through the event support water quality, amenities, advocacy, awareness, and economic initiatives for the lake.

Now in its 25th year, the Bar Stool Open has grown into an annual tradition for hundreds of participants, while also supporting local businesses and lake improvement efforts.
