State Requests Continuance In Ashlee Heinl-Botkin Trial

The State of Ohio has filed a motion to continue the trial of Ashlee Heinl-Botkin in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

The case is filed under case number 23-CRM-148 and is assigned to Judge Matthew K. Fox.

According to the court filing, the trial had been scheduled for July 9th, 2026. The motion to continue was filed on July 8th by special prosecutors Drew Wood and Kaitlin Wilkin from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

The filing states the State received discovery from the defense on July 7th, and that the discovery is material to the core issues of the case. Prosecutors also stated the request was not made for the purpose of delay. The filing says the motion followed a telephone conference with the court and that the defense did not oppose the continuance.

Heinl-Botkin was previously indicted in connection with an investigation into missing medication from the Coldwater branch of Mercer County EMS. The investigation began after a routine inventory found medication missing from a secured medication box.

A new trial date was not listed in the motion.
