Wessel Sentenced To 90 Days In Mercer County Jail

Michael Wessel was sentenced Wednesday, July 8th, in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

According to the court, Wessel was sentenced to 90 days in jail, to be served in the Mercer County Jail. He was given credit for 2 days already served.

Court records show Wessel previously entered guilty pleas in May to intimidation of an attorney, victim, or witness in a criminal case, a third-degree felony, and aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to court documents, the case stemmed from incidents on February 19th involving the Celina Municipal Court, the Celina City Prosecutor’s Office, and the Celina Police Department.

An affidavit filed in the case states that Wessel had been scheduled for a telephone pre-trial in a separate municipal court case but did not appear. Court records say Wessel later called Celina Municipal Court and spoke with a clerk before calling back irate and yelling.

The affidavit also states that Wessel called the Celina City Prosecutor’s Office and was yelling and cursing at staff. According to the filing, staff advised that Wessel made comments about coming to Celina and to the office, and that they were in fear for their safety.

Court documents also allege Wessel repeatedly called both the Celina City Prosecutor’s Office and the Celina Police Department. The affidavit states he called the prosecutor’s office 92 times and left 9 voicemails, while also calling the Celina Police Department 28 times over a short period, tying up dispatch lines.
