Fort Recovery Council Discusses Pool Project, Road Work Updates

FORT RECOVERY - Fort Recovery Village Council met Monday, July 6th, for its regular council meeting, with no ordinances or resolutions passed.

Fort Recovery Village Administrator Aaron Rengers said council received updates on several ongoing village projects, including the wastewater and water plants, the North Lane pump station, and the Snake Trail project.

Rengers also noted that concrete work has started on Sharpsburg Road. The contractor has closed Sharpsburg Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily this week, with the road reopening after work is completed each day. The village’s overlay project is also scheduled to take place sometime this summer or fall.

The biggest discussion centered on the future of Fort Recovery’s pool renovation project. Village officials are still considering whether to use $441,000 in state funding for a new splash pad, apply the money toward overhauling the existing swimming pool, or potentially put it toward building a new pool.

Rengers said the village is looking at all options and plans to form a pool committee to help determine what would be most beneficial for the community going forward. Amy Wendell is currently serving as the main contact for the committee and has been working to gather people together for future discussion.

The next Fort Recovery Village Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 20th, at 7:30 p.m.
