Victim And Suspect Identified In Greenville Homicide Investigation

Greenville Police have released new information in a fatal shooting investigation from early Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old James Corcoran.

Police say the suspect is 33-year-old Todd Black. Black is incarcerated in the Darke County Jail on one count of murder.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department, deputies from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, and emergency medical personnel were called to the 1100 block of East Russ Road around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a shooting.

When first responders arrived, they found Corcoran suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Black was located at the residence during the preliminary investigation and was taken into custody without incident.

The Greenville Police Department and the Darke County Coroner’s Office are handling the investigation.
