Mark Platfoot Named New Knoxville Superintendent

Mark Platfoot Named New Knoxville Superintendent

The New Knoxville Board of Education has announced that Mark Platfoot has been named the new superintendent of the district.

In the announcement, the district congratulated Platfoot on the opportunity and noted his commitment to education, student success, and building positive relationships with staff, students, families, and the community.

Platfoot says he is excited and feels blessed and fortunate that the board selected him following the process. He has served the district for the past four years as principal and says he has come to love New Knoxville’s small-town, small-community feel.

Platfoot says New Knoxville reminds him of Jackson Center, where he grew up, with good kids, strong families, and a staff he describes as second to none.

He also noted that the district is working on facility improvements this summer, including new carpet, new flooring, new windows, a new roof, and other updates to the building.

Platfoot says what makes New Knoxville special is its size, its community feel, and especially its students and staff.

District officials say they are confident Platfoot’s leadership will continue to move New Knoxville forward.

As Platfoot transitions into his new role, New Knoxville Schools will begin the search for its next principal. Additional information about the selection process and timeline will be shared as it becomes available.

The district also thanked students, families, staff, and the community for their continued support during the transition.
