Mercer County Treasurer Dave Wolters to Retire in January 2027

Mercer County Treasurer Dave Wolters will retire effective January 8, 2027, bringing nearly a decade of service in the county's top financial office to a close.

Mercer County Republican Party Chairman Bob Hibner announced that he has accepted Wolters' resignation. Hibner said Wolters, who began serving as county treasurer in September 2017, has overseen one of the county's busiest offices, managing a large number of property parcels and the county's financial investment portfolio.

Hibner praised Wolters for his dedication to the residents of Mercer County, calling him a faithful public servant who was always willing to do whatever was needed for the county.

The retirement will leave a significant vacancy, and county officials will begin the process of filling the position in the coming months.

As the January 2027 retirement date approaches, the Mercer County Commissioners are expected to make a temporary appointment to serve as treasurer. The Mercer County Republican Central Committee will later appoint someone to complete the remainder of the current term, which runs through the end of August 2029.

Hibner said county officials will continue working closely with Wolters until his retirement and wished him well as he prepares for the next chapter.
