Second Victim Dies Following Darke County Dirt Bike Crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has confirmed a second person has died following a dirt bike crash early Friday morning in Darke County.

Kasyn Hollinger, 19, of New Madison, died Sunday at a Dayton-area hospital from injuries suffered in the crash.

The crash was reported before 1:30 a.m. Friday on Richmond Palestine Road, north of Downing Road.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2005 Honda CRF250 dirt bike operated by 21-year-old Ian Dixon of Hollansburg was traveling northbound when it was struck by a 2014 KTM 350 SX-F dirt bike operated by Hollinger, which had been traveling southbound and crossed left of center.

After the collision, Dixon’s dirt bike went off the west side of the road, while Hollinger’s dirt bike went off the east side of the road.

Dixon died from injuries suffered in the crash. Hollinger was seriously injured and flown to Kettering Health. He later died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
