2 people killed in I-75 crash

Interstate 75 Fatal Accident - Auglaize County - 415am 6/28

A fatal crash investigation is underway following a collision on northbound I-75 near the 108 Mile Marker

Investigators say a Ford Explorer driven by 48-year-old Holly Williams of Howell, Michigan, went off the left side of the roadway, struck the median cable barrier, re-entered traffic, and became disabled in the right lane.

A passenger, 54-year-old James Johnson of Limestone, Tennessee, exited the Explorer and attempted to move it from the roadway. A northbound Freightliner semi then struck the disabled SUV from behind, pushing it off the roadway and into Johnson.

Johnson suffered minor injuries and was taken to Lima Memorial Hospital.

Williams and an 11-year-old child from Howell, Michigan, both wearing seat belts, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The semi driver, Charles Pagel, was not injured. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors.
