Mercer Health Highlights Expanded Urgent Care Hours On Spectrum

Mercer Health is reminding the community about expanded hours at Mercer Health Urgent Care in Celina.

Alicia Guggenbiller and Dr. Craig Dues joined WCSM’s Spectrum with host Kevin Sandler to discuss the change, which took effect June 1st. Mercer Health Urgent Care is now open from 8 AM to 8 PM, seven days a week, 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays.

Guggenbiller said the expanded hours are meant to improve access for families, working adults and patients who may not be able to seek care during traditional business hours. She said the goal is to provide convenient local care after work, after school or when a primary care provider is not available.

The urgent care can treat conditions such as infections, minor injuries, fevers, animal or insect bites, cuts requiring stitches, eye infections, sprains, strains, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, urinary tract infections, headaches and migraines. X-ray services are also available for certain injuries, including suspected minor fractures.

Dues said urgent care is designed for more minor illnesses and lower acuity conditions, such as ear infections, sore throats, rashes, coughs, colds and pink eye. He said people should go to the emergency department for more serious symptoms, including chest pain, shortness of breath, severe bleeding, serious head injuries, major trauma, displaced or open fractures, or mental health emergencies.

Mercer Health Urgent Care is located at 950 South Main Street in Celina, near Boardwalk Village.

Walk-ins are welcome, and appointments can also be scheduled by calling urgent care or through Mercer Health’s MyChart system. Guggenbiller said appointments have helped reduce wait times for patients.
