West Ohio CAP Offering Summer Cooling Assistance
The West Ohio Community Action Partnership is offering summer cooling assistance through the Home Energy Assistance Program’s Summer Crisis Program.
The one-time benefit is available from July 1st through September 30th for eligible residents in Allen, Auglaize and Mercer counties.
The program is for households at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. Applicants must also have a household member who is 60 or older, have physician documentation showing cooling assistance is needed for health reasons, have a disconnect notice, have energy service shut off or be trying to establish new electric service.
The program can provide up to $500 in electric utility assistance for regulated utility customers or up to $800 for unregulated utility customers.
It may also provide up to $1,500 for air conditioner repair, $525 for air conditioning units, $550 for casement or portable air conditioning units, or $150 per fan, with a maximum of two fans.
