Ohio Initial And Continued Jobless Claims Drop

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says both initial and continued unemployment claims dropped last week.

For the week of June 14th through June 20th, Ohioans filed 4,124 initial unemployment claims. That is 1,448 fewer than the previous week.

ODJFS says about 829 of those initial claims have been flagged for more strict identity verification to help prevent fraud.

Ohioans also filed 42,007 continued unemployment claims last week, which was 1,666 fewer than the previous week.

In all, 46,131 unemployment claims were filed in Ohio during the reporting period.

Ohio’s unemployment rate in May was 3.7 percent, compared to the national unemployment rate of 4.3 percent. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in May was 61.8 percent, the same as the national rate.
