Grand Lake Mariners To Support C.A.L.L. Ministries During June 28th Game

C.A.L.L. Ministries Director Homer Burnett and Grand Lake Mariners Coach Mike Roberts joined WCSM’s Spectrum to discuss an upcoming partnership between the local collegiate baseball team and the food pantry.

The Grand Lake Mariners will honor C.A.L.L. Ministries during their game on Sunday, June 28th. A portion of gate receipts will be donated to the organization’s mission of providing food and support to local families in need.

Burnett said C.A.L.L. Ministries serves certified low-income families throughout Mercer County. While many people know the organization as a food pantry, Burnett said its work has grown over the years.

In addition to food assistance, C.A.L.L. Ministries offers several other programs, including a work-for-appliance program, a backpack program for children in all eight Mercer County elementary schools, and the C.A.L.L. Cafe, which provides a free hot meal for clients on Tuesday evenings.

Burnett said the partnership with the Mariners helps spread the word about C.A.L.L. Ministries and the services available to local residents. He said many people are still surprised to learn how much the organization does for families across Mercer County.

Roberts said the Mariners are proud to be part of the Grand Lake community. He said the team brings college baseball players to Celina each are proud to be part of the Grand Lake community summer to continue developing their skills while becoming part of the local area.

The June 28th game will be held at Montgomery Field, located at 322 Grand Lake Road in Celina. Fans can bring a lawn chair or sit in the bleachers, and concessions will be available.

Community members are encouraged to attend the game, support the Mariners and help C.A.L.L. Ministries continue serving local families.
