Mercer County Job And Family Services To Serve Children Through Shoe Voucher Program
Mercer County Job and Family Services is preparing to serve local children through its annual shoe voucher program.
Director Angie Nickell said the program typically serves around 300 children in Mercer County each year and is something the agency has remained dedicated to continuing.
This year, the program will also include school spirit clothing packs. Children may select a T-shirt and sweatshirt from the school of their choice to wear during the school year.
Nickell said families who qualify must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For a household of four, that would be a monthly income of about $5,500. She said many working families may qualify.
The program is available throughout Mercer County. Families must be Mercer County residents to receive shoe vouchers.
The vouchers may be used at three Mercer County shoe vendors: Shoe Show, Wilson’s and Kelly’s Shoes.
Nickell said the agency is looking forward to serving as many children as possible through the program this year.
