One Dead Following House Fire In Bellefontaine

According to the Peak of Ohio, one person has died following an early Tuesday morning house fire in Bellefontaine.

Emergency crews responded shortly before 6 AM to a structure fire at a two-story home at 417 West Brown Avenue.

Bellefontaine Fire Chief Brian Wilson confirmed that the victim was a man in his 70s. Two people were inside the home when the fire broke out. A woman was able to escape without injury.

Firefighters from the Bellefontaine Fire Department and Huntsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of family members and further investigation.

The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called to assist with determining what sparked the fire.

According to records from the Logan County Auditor, the home is owned by Rosemary Bayless.

Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
