New Bremen Council Approves Wastewater Dredging Contract And Support For Mental Wellness Program

The New Bremen Village Council met Monday evening, June 8th, in what Village Council President Jacob Larger described as a quick but productive session.

Council heard an update from Village Administrator Brent Richter on New Bremen’s designation as part of the National Flood Insurance Program through FEMA.

Larger said the designation follows recent national resurveying of floodplains, which identified certain parcels in the village as being located within those floodplains. New Bremen now joins more than 22,000 communities nationwide that participate in the National Flood Insurance Program.

Homeowners looking for more information are encouraged to contact their insurance provider or reach out to the New Bremen village offices.

Council also unanimously approved two items on third reading.

The first was a contract with Polcat of Shelby County for dredging services at the village wastewater plant. Larger said the work will help the plant operate cleaner and more efficiently.

Council also approved financial support for the upcoming Always Inspire Mental Wellness Program, which is being organized by the Let’s Back the Blue organization. The program is aimed at supporting first responders.

The next New Bremen Village Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 22nd, at 6:30 PM. The public is encouraged to attend.
