Marion Local Board Approves Personnel Items, Cybersecurity Framework And Donation To Library

The Marion Local Board of Education approved several personnel, athletic and financial items during its meeting Monday night.

The board approved five extended days for Elementary Guidance Counselor Jordan Trebuil and hired Kaitlyn Thobe as athletic secretary. Board members also hired winter sports coaches, approved volunteer coaches for each sports team, approved payment to the bowling coaches from the past school year, and retroactively approved John Elking as the boys basketball camp advisor.

The board also approved the list of club and class advisors for next school year, the athletic handbook and activity budgets for the upcoming year.

Stipends were approved for Alexa Bering, Kyle Grabowski and Lynn Yates for teaching College Credit Plus courses. The board also approved the administrative salary schedule and the substitute teacher pay schedule for the upcoming school year.

Board members accepted a $2,000 donation from the Mercer County Civic Foundation to the library.

Technology Coordinator Michelle Mescher reported that the district needs to establish and maintain a cybersecurity program. Marion Local is adopting the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework for the coming year.

High School Principal Tim Goodwin reported on graduation commencement and spring state testing scores. Elementary Principal Kelly Thobe reported on the Junior High Awards Assembly and also reviewed spring state testing scores at the elementary level.

Treasurer Ryan Goldschmidt updated the board on appropriations, auto, general liability and property casualty insurance, and cybersecurity coverage.

Superintendent Mike Pohlman discussed the end of the school year and provided an update on the district’s facility project.

The next regular Marion Local Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 13th, at 7 PM.
