Van Wert Area Community Concert Band To Perform Patriotic Concert At Shanes Park

The Van Wert Area Community Concert Band will present a free patriotic concert Friday, June 12th, at the large shelter house in Shanes Park in Rockford.

The program will begin at 7 PM and is free to the public.

Concert Band Director Richard Sherrick says the performance will include several patriotic selections celebrating the United States’ 250th anniversary.

Selections are scheduled to include To Honor America, Voices of the Battlefield, Golden and a Bob Dylan medley.

Band member Warren Bowery will also be featured as the singer on Neil Diamond’s America.

Area military personnel and veterans will be honored during the concert with a Salute to America’s Finest.

Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or use the picnic tables at the shelter house. The shelter house is protected from bad weather, and an ice cream truck will be on site.

The Van Wert Area Community Concert Band is directed by former Parkway band director Richard Sherrick and includes members from Van Wert, Ohio City, Delphos, Convoy, Chat, Middle Point, Spencerville, Celina and Rockford.
