ODJFS Highlights Free Job Resources For Veterans And Military Families
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is recognizing National Military Appreciation Month by highlighting free employment resources for active duty service members, veterans, military spouses and surviving spouses.
ODJFS Director Matt Damschroder says Ohio’s service members, veterans and military families strengthen communities across the state. He says the transition from military to civilian life can be significant, and the state offers personalized guidance, employer connections and training resources to help.
Military members and their spouses can access help through OhioMeansVeteranJobs.com or their local OhioMeansJobs Center.
Available services include translating military experience into a civilian resume, creating a career transition plan, connecting with military friendly employers, applying for jobs, enrolling in workshops and training programs, learning about benefits and exploring new career paths.
Users can create or log into a free account at OhioMeansVeteranJobs.com. After signing in, they can complete a short questionnaire to request support from an employment specialist or continue using the online tools on their own.
Ohio currently has more than 9,000 employers listed in its Military Friendly Employer Registry. On the platform, veteran resumes appear with a red and blue “V,” while military spouse and surviving spouse resumes appear with a red and blue “S” to help their profiles stand out.
Ohio is home to nearly 700,000 veterans.
