New Bremen Mayor Reports On Village Business

New Bremen Village Council met Tuesday night, with Mayor Bob Parker giving his mayor’s report during the meeting.

Parker reported April income of $2,401,090.35 and May expenses of $1,121,986.48. He also said the village transferred $1.2 million in excess funds into its Star Ohio fund, which earns a higher interest rate than the village’s normal account.

Parker also reminded residents that the Vine and Park Street assessments are due May 29.

The New Bremen swimming pool is now open for the season. Parker said a new pump was installed at the pool, which delayed the opening slightly. Summer help also started this week, so residents will begin seeing those workers in the village’s park areas.

Council held a second reading to establish a cyber incident response plan for the Village of New Bremen.

Council also held a second reading to award a contract for sludge removal at Lagoon 2 at the wastewater plant. The bid came in at $916,510, which was below the engineering estimate of $925,000.

A second reading was also held to approve a $2,500 donation to the Always Inspire Mental Wellness event, which will be held in the fall for first responders.

Council also held a first reading to amend the zoning map for the old school property on Walnut and Plum Street.

Stolly Insurance also presented its Ohio Plan renewal, which takes effect July 1. Parker said the renewal reflects a 4.5 percent increase, going from $91,500 this year to $95,600. He said the increase is mainly due to the rising physical value of village vehicles.
