A Piqua man was taken to the hospital following a bicycle crash Tuesday morning in Darke County.
According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the 9800 block of State Route 185 near Versailles at approximately 5:22 a.m. on May 26, 2026. Versailles Police, Versailles Fire, and Versailles Rescue also responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation found that a bicyclist was traveling north on State Route 185. A silver 2004 Cadillac Escalade, driven by 43-year-old George Worden III of Versailles, was also traveling north on the same road.
Investigators say Worden drifted left on the roadway to avoid the bicyclist. The bicyclist also swerved left and was struck by the mirror of Worden’s vehicle, causing him to fall from the bicycle.
The bicyclist was identified as 30-year-old Skyler Butt of Piqua. He was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation. No charges had been filed at the time of the release.
