Mercer Health Earns Acute Stroke Ready Certification

Mercer Health has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Acute Stroke Ready Certification.

The recognition follows a rigorous onsite review conducted on February 6, 2026. During the visit, Joint Commission reviewers evaluated Mercer Health’s compliance with certification standards related to stroke care, program management, patient safety, and clinical processes. The review also included onsite observations and interviews.

According to The Joint Commission, Acute Stroke Ready Certification recognizes health care organizations that are committed to excellence, continuous improvement, and safer, higher quality care for patients.

Ken Grubbs, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer for The Joint Commission, commended Mercer Health for using the certification process to reduce variation in clinical processes and strengthen its stroke care program.

The American Stroke Association also congratulated Mercer Health on the achievement, saying the certification reflects the organization’s commitment to providing high quality care for stroke patients.

Jenny Conn, Director of Emergency Services and Disaster Preparedness at Mercer Health, said the certification strengthens Mercer Health’s commitment to providing lifesaving care close to home.

Conn added that Mercer Health’s team works across disciplines and is prepared to respond when minutes matter, calling the recognition a reflection of the dedication of the hospital’s providers, nurses, and staff.
