Fort Recovery School Board Reviews Financial Forecast, Cybersecurity Program And End Of Year Updates

Fort Recovery School Superintendent Tony Stahl says the Fort Recovery Local Schools Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 18th, in the high school community room.

The meeting began at 6 PM with a work session focused on the district’s financial forecast. District Treasurer Deanna Kanapke updated the board on expenditures and revenues from the current fiscal year.

Board members also received updates from building principals on several end of year events.

Stahl said the board was briefed on recent legislative changes requiring government entities to adopt and practice a cybersecurity program. The board received updates from the superintendent and district technology coordinator on the process. Formal action to adopt a cybersecurity program is expected at the next meeting.

In other action, the board accepted several donations from community members for Senior Fest, approved updated policy revisions, approved handbooks for the upcoming school year, and made several personnel moves involving administrative, coaching and non teaching staff.

The board also approved three contracts. Those include a contract with the Mercer County Health Department for nursing services, the West Central Ohio Assistive Technology Center for student special education equipment, and the Northwest Ohio Area Computer Services Cooperative for various technology needs.

Stahl said board meeting agendas, minutes and schedules are available on the district website.

The next Fort Recovery Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 22nd, at 6:30 PM in the high school community room.
