Cooper Farms Acquires Former JES Plant In Celina

Cooper Farms has announced the acquisition of the former JES plant at 1800 Industrial Drive in Celina. The company says the move is part of its continued growth and commitment to value added food production.

According to Cooper Farms, the Celina facility includes 28,000 square feet of space on 8.85 acres. The company says the site will become a value added further processing plant, with future capabilities that could extend beyond meat processing. Renovation work has already started as Cooper Farms prepares the facility for operations.

Cooper Farms expects renovations to be completed and production to begin in the spring of 2027. Chief Operating Officer Gary Cooper said the expansion will allow the company to grow its capabilities and create new opportunities.

The site has a history in food production. JES Foods says its Celina facility opened in 1996, expanding the company from fresh produce into cooking operations while serving food manufacturing, wholesale food distribution and custom recipe development customers.

Cooper Farms is based in Oakwood and has been part of northwest Ohio agriculture and food production for more than 85 years. The company produces private label food products including deli meats, sliced meats, turkey burgers, eggs and pet food products.

Additional details on operations, employment opportunities and project timelines for the Celina Processing Plant are expected to be released as plans continue to develop.
