Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Reminds Boaters To Watch For Dredge Line
Grand Lake St. Marys State Park is reminding boaters to use caution around the dredge line on the lake.
According to the park, the dredge line is marked with large orange buoys. The line normally sits below the surface, but can sometimes rise and float if air becomes trapped in it.
Park officials say hitting the dredge line can cause serious damage to a boat’s motor. It can also delay dredging work on the lake.
The area is an idle speed zone, but officials say some boats are still coming through too fast and accidentally striking the line.
Boaters are being asked to slow down, watch for the orange markers and help keep the waterway safe while allowing dredging work to stay on schedule.
