New Bremen Sets Christmas Tree Lighting Date, Reviews Cybersecurity Plan

New Bremen Mayor Bob Parker shared several updates following the latest village council meeting.

Parker said the village has set this year’s Christmas tree lighting for Sunday, November 29th. The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. and will be expanded into more of a family event.

Council also held a first reading of an ordinance to approve a new cyber incident response plan for the village.

Another first reading was held for the Lagoon Two sludge removal project. Parker said the project involves removing 600 dried tons of sludge. The village had budgeted $925,000 for the work, and received a bid of $916,000 from a company out of Sidney.

Council also held a first reading on an ordinance to approve $2,500 for Back to Blue. Parker said the group is planning a mental wellness presentation for first responders later this year.

The village also rescheduled its May 25th council meeting because of Memorial Day. The meeting will now be held Tuesday, May 26th at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.
