Celina Police Department Announces Passing Of Retired K 9 Peng

The Celina Police Department is mourning the loss of retired K 9 Peng.

According to the department, Peng passed away on May 7th, 2026.

Peng faithfully served the Celina community for nine years before retiring on December 30th, 2024.

During his career, Peng served alongside his handler, Sergeant Gabe Bartlett. The two were partnered from the beginning of Peng’s service. Sergeant Bartlett welcomed Peng into his home throughout his working career and officially adopted him after Peng’s retirement.

The Celina Police Department extended its condolences to Sergeant Bartlett and his family.

The department says Peng’s loyal service and dedication to the department and the community will not be forgotten.
