Parkway Board To Consider Staffing, Treasurer Trainee And Cybersecurity Framework

The Parkway Local Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, May 13th at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

The agenda includes student recognition, along with presentations from Jeff Boyer and Misti Burtch on Parkway Athletics.

Under the Treasurer’s Report, the board is scheduled to consider meeting minutes, financial reports, payment of bills, cell phone reimbursement stipends for district officials, salary schedules for 2026 and 2027, and several donations.

Those donations include $100 to the girls basketball program from Deb Kirby, wrestling singlets for the 2025 and 2026 season from Carl Green, and $905 for the Child Assistance Fund from St. John Lutheran Hopewell Church.

The Superintendent’s Report includes several end of year items, including graduation on Sunday, May 17th at 1:30 p.m., early dismissal on the last day of school on Wednesday, May 20th, and a retirement breakfast.

The board is also expected to consider several personnel items, including the resignations of Misty Gerber as an aide, Brian Schmidt as an aide, John “Jim” Hamilton as a full time bus driver, Doug Hughes as head boys varsity basketball coach, and Chris McDorman as boys bowling assistant coach.

The agenda also includes a proposed one year limited rehire retiree teaching contract for Doug Hughes, a one year limited teaching contract for Keenan Leichty the Second, and a two year contract for Olivia Leeper as a teacher’s aide.

The board will also consider creating a full time substitute teacher position for the 2026 and 2027 school year to help manage daily and longer term teacher absences.

Other items include several supplemental coaching and advisory contracts, approving Mackenzie Walls as Treasurer Trainee and Assistant Treasurer, approving Joel Henkle as middle school football assistant coach, and adopting the NIST Cybersecurity Framework Version 2.0 as the district’s official cybersecurity program framework.

The meeting agenda also includes the possibility of an executive session.
