Ohio State Highway Patrol Offers Ride Along Program For Potential Recruits

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is offering people interested in a law enforcement career a chance to experience the job firsthand.

The Patrol’s ride along program allows potential recruits to ride with an on duty trooper during a day, afternoon, or night shift.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, participants may get a real world look at emergency calls for service, traffic stops, and daily interactions with the public.

Major Michael D. Kemmer, commander of the Office of Training, Recruitment and Professional Operations, says choosing a career with the Patrol is a life changing decision. He says the ride along program gives people an authentic look at the challenging and rewarding work troopers do each day.

The opportunity is intended for people genuinely interested in exploring a career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

To be eligible, participants must have a valid driver’s license, be between the ages of 18 and 39, and complete a brief interview with the Post Commander before the ride along.

Anyone interested can contact their local Ohio State Highway Patrol post. More information is also available by calling 1 866 TROOPER.
