St. Henry school board honors football state champions, approves donations and personnel moves

St. Henry Local Schools Superintendent Adam Puthoff highlighted a successful fall sports season and updated residents on district business during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, held in the high school media center.

Puthoff opened the meeting by congratulating the St. Henry football team on winning the school’s 7th state championship. He thanked head coach Josh Broering and his staff for their leadership, along with band director Alicia Hartings and the St. Henry Redskin Band for their strong support throughout the season. He also recognized cheerleading coach Barb Gass and the cheer squad for their contributions.

Puthoff said the community’s turnout all season “meant a lot to the students” and reflected the strong support behind the district’s athletic programs.

The superintendent also reminded families that the district will hold an early dismissal on Tuesday, December 23 at 1:30 p.m. The board’s organizational meeting will take place prior to the January 12 board meeting, with Brad Unruhman serving as president pro tem.

St. Henry’s annual senior citizens breakfast is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10 at 8:30 a.m. in the high school commons, featuring performances by students.

The board approved several donations, including:
• $12,102.52 from the Southwestern Ohio EPC rebate and dividend distribution
• $1,000 from the St. Henry Athletic Boosters to boys basketball
• $500 from the Athletic Boosters to girls basketball
• $1,500 from the Athletic Boosters to track
• $1,000 from the Athletic Boosters to softball
• $150 from St. Henry Bank to the boys and girls golf teams

Puthoff noted that many of these donations were generated through volunteers working football game concessions.

The board approved purchase orders to Johnston’s Inc. for $14,288.58 and to Hope Squad for $6,500. It also approved FMLA leave for a staff member retroactive to November 10.

Board members accepted the resignation of middle school track coach Nathan Helmstetter and thanked him for his service. They also approved hiring Gracie Chilcoat as junior varsity softball coach and Madison Luth as a volunteer softball coach, pending proper certification.

All board agendas and attachments are available on the district’s website by clicking the BOE Meeting link in the top-right corner of the homepage.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 12 at 7 p.m. in the high school media center.
