Celina Man Charged with Felonious Assault After Early-Morning Attack

CELINA, OH — A local man faces felony charges following an early-morning assault at a downtown business.

Jeffrey Montague, 25, of 310 West Wayne Street, Celina, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, after allegedly attacking a man inside Boots and Bourbon on South Main Street on November 9, 2025.

According to police, Officer David Powell of the Celina Police Department responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:57 a.m. and found the victim bleeding from the mouth. The victim reported that Montague confronted him about speaking to law enforcement and began punching him in the face, knocking him to the ground before continuing the attack.

Police say surveillance footage from the business confirmed the assault. The victim suffered five facial fractures and was transported by the City of Celina squad for medical treatment.

Montague’s case is now filed in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.  He is expected to face prosecution by the Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
