William Henry Goubeau

William Henry Goubeau, age 90, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the evening of August 3, 2025, at Vancrest Nursing Home in St. Marys.

Born December 17, 1934, in Spencerville, Ohio, William was the son of Jesse and Velva
(Deitsch) Goubeau, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by
his sister, Loveda Gentner.

William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence
and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was the beloved
husband of Patricia (Neargarder) Goubeau, who survives him. William and Patricia were
married on June 18, 1955, and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage—a true testament
to their lifelong love and commitment.

A hardworking man, William spent 40 years with Goodyear, building a life grounded in
dedication and perseverance. He was a proud member of the St. Marys Tri-Squares, a
lifetime member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), and a member of both the Allen
County Archers and the New Bremen Rod and Gun Club.

An avid outdoorsman, William loved hunting and bass fishing. He also had a passion for
motorcycles and was rarely seen without his cowboy boots. He enjoyed a good western
movie and never missed an opportunity to sit down and watch wrestling.

William was a storyteller at heart. If you were willing to listen, he’d take you back to the "good old
days"—recounting where people lived, where he grew up, the mischief he got into, and all
the moments that shaped his life. He reminisced often and with great detail, preserving
family history through his words and memories.

He leaves behind a large and loving family. William was the proud father of Mike Goubeau,
Genia Goubeau-Stroh, John (Rosanne) Goubeau, Doug Goubeau, Sue (John) Tellsbo, and
Bruce (Joreen) Goubeau. He was a cherished grandfather to Josh (Alyssa) Goubeau; Tom
(Treva) Goubeau; Nick (Kaitlyn) Goubeau; Tasha Goubeau (Rick Fontanini); Eric Goubeau;
Colette (Alex) Wenning; Tyler (Samantha) Goubeau; Andrea (Jimmy) Neiberg; Justin
(Mindy) Gonzalez; Cory (Dolly) Gonzalez; and Kateland (Richie) Gutierrez. He was preceded
in death by his grandson Tyson Goubeau. William is also survived by ten great-
grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.

Those who knew William will remember him as a man of strong values, gentle wisdom, and
quiet humor—a man who led by example and lived a life full of purpose, stories, and heart.
