Minster Board of Education Overview- June 16, 2025

The Minster Board of Education met for their regular monthly meeting Monday evening.
Donations
The Board voted to approve accepting the following donations:
● $300 from Capabilities for the Juggling club.
Board Recognition of Students
The Minster Board of Education recognized the following state track placers: Sophia Dirksen,
daughter of Jeff and Lisa Dirksen; Joanna Topp, daughter of Chad and Catie Topp; Annie
Hemmelgarn, daughter of Randy and Kate Hemmelgarn; Claire Bohman, daughter of Ryan and
Julie Bohman; and Molly Brame, daughter of Marshal and Margaret Brame.
Superintendent’s Report
Superintendent Josh Meyer provided the Board an update on House Bill 335. Mr. Meyer
explained the devastating impact this legislation would have on Minster Schools and public
education around Ohio. If this legislation passes, Minster Schools and other high achieving
public schools would struggle to provide the excellent education that our children, and all

K-6 Principal’s Report
Elementary Principal Mrs. Mandy Albers provided the elementary report. She provided the
Board with state testing results, and updated the Board on the summer reading program. Mrs.
Albers also recognized Evelyn Stillwell, 4th grade student, as the recipient of the 4th quarter
Spirit Stick.

7-12 Principal’s Report
7-12 Principal Mr. Austin Kaylor shared the Jr/Sr High School update with the Board. He
recognized the Class of 2025, provided the Board with an update on Spring Sports, and gave
the Board an update on state testing results.

Curriculum and Instruction
Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer Gina Selby provided the Board with her monthly report. Mrs. Selby shared special
education cost reimbursement information with the Board, and requested transfers and
temporary advances to funds that finished the year with negative balances. Mrs. Selby also
provided the Board with a budget performance update, and asked the Board to approve
temporary appropriates for FY 2026.

Superintendent’s Consent Agenda
During the Superintendent’s Consent Agenda portion of the meeting the Minster Board
approved the elementary, high school and athletic handbooks and commended the spring sports
teams and coaches.
New Business
In new business the Minster Board approved the following items:

Approved a resolution declaring transportation to be impractical and offer payment in lieu
of transportation.
Approved a contract with the Auglaize Co Board of Elections to use school facilities for
upcoming elections.
Approved a foodservice compliance consulting agreement with the Southwestern Ohio
Educational Purchasing Council.
Approved lunch prices for the 2025/2026 school year.
The Board set Monday, July 9 at 7 PM in the Large Group Room as the time for their next
monthly meeting.
Personnel Recommendations
The Board approved the following Personnel Recommendations:
● Approved a limited 2 year contract to Robb Hemmelgarn, Athletic Director & Support
Specialist, along with 10 extended days this summer.
● Accepted the resignation of Sarah Regedanz, Talented and Gifted Teacher.
● Accepted the retirement resignation of Leah Ketner, elementary school counselor.
● Approved Sara Osterholt and Doug Jutte as long term substitute teachers.
● Approved Melissa Schmackers, Kelly Wiss and Shelley Wolf for extended school year
services and summer school.
● Approved Brenda Meiring as a cook’s helper for the 2025/2026 school year.
● Approved a number of seasonal groundskeepers.
● Accepted the resignation of Larry Topp, Head Boys Track Coach.
● Offered supplemental contracts to the following:
○ Christy Homan- Positive Peer Advocates
○ Marcus Hileman- Battle Bots
○ Roger Boeke- Freshman Boys Basketball
○ Dan Wente- JH Boys Basketball
○ Edna Sanchez- Jr. Class Concessions

Executive Session
The Board of Education entered into Executive Session to discuss the employment and
compensation of a public employee and the purchase or sale of property. No action was taken
after the Executive Session.
