Thomas Jutte, age 85, of Celina, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Elmwood Assisted Living Center in New Bremen. He was born December 24, 1939 in Celina to the Late Ted & Mary (Dorsten) Jutte. On April 21, 1965 in Osgood, Ohio, he married Vivian (Grillot) Jutte and she preceded him in death in 2020.
He is survived by children, Douglas Jutte and Sally Kane, nine grandchildren, Sarah Ludwig, Angela Jutte, Zedekiah Heydenburg, Kyle Heydenburg, Keri Heydenburg, Victor Heydenburg, Purity Heydenburg, Jonathan Hickman, Katie Simmons, and great-grandchildren, Caden Simmons, Tyler Simmons, Billy Ludwig, Scott Clarkowski, and another great-grandchild expected soon. He is also survived by sister, Madonna Brunswick, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Jutte.
He was preceded in death by his children, Gregory Jutte and Jill Heydenburg, siblings and in-laws, Mark Schwieterman and his wife, Rosemary; Orval Schwieterman and his wife, Helen; Roger Schwieterman and his first wife, Dorothy, and his second wife, Dolores, Donald Jutte, and John Brunswick.
Vivian and Tom were instrumental in the development and original operations of landfills, first in Mercer County in 1971 and then Logan County in 1972 that is still in operation today.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. Tom was a big advocate of the Green Space initiative, spending time on his farm, driving his Mercedes, taking his oldest grandsons hunting and fishing in Canada. He was a member of the YMCA in Bellefontaine. He always enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Tom and his wife Vivian enjoyed spending time together and bonding over their love of antique hunting. A favorite past time of his was restoring old vehicles. He enjoyed visiting with friends frequently and drinking coffee at the local coffee shops around town.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, May, 30 at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Friends may call from 9 AM until 11:30 AM prior to the service.
