Mary Evelyn (Bertke) Sudhoff


Mary Evelyn (Bertke) Sudhoff age 80 of Celina, Ohio passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at her residence in Celina, surrounded by her family. She was born the daughter of the late Elmer and Elizabeth “Betty” (Steinbrunner) Bertke on April 24, 1944 in Celina, Ohio. On June 13, 1964 she married the love of her life Bernard “Barney” Sudhoff, who passed away March 18, 2024. She is survived by her loving children all of Celina; Jackie (Rick) Weiler, Theresa (Dana) Bertke, Jim Sudhoff, Angie (Tom) Weis, fourteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one grandson, her brother John (Jane) Bertke.

Mary graduated from the Immaculate Conception Catholic High School with the Class of 1964. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. She retired from Huffy’s in Celina after thirty plus years of service. Mary was loved by many for her great sense of humor sassy attitude and her huge heart. Family was her everything. Holidays were her favorite time to celebrate family. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved being outdoors, flowers were her favorite summer-time hobby and sitting on the porch with a drink in her hand was her favorite. Other hobbies included craft shows, going for drives around the lake and to pick up the morning paper. She loved her sweets and a good bottle of wine. She will be missed by many, especially her very spoiled dog Holly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp Officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina. A visitation for friends and family will be held from 2:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 and from 9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. on Wednesday morning at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina. Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice 1350 N. Broadway St. Greenville, Ohio 45331.
