New Bremen closes its dog park-urges residents to pick up after their pets

From the Village of New Bremen:
The Dog Park in Bunker Hill Industrial Park is currently closed indefinitely, until further notice. The dog park is an amenity provided by the Village and it is the responsibility of the dog owner/handler to clean up after their animal. As of recently the amenity has continued to be abused, and has been deemed a nuisance and non-essential.
Dog waste does not biodegrade, it sticks around a long time. It contains harmful bacteria and pollutes groundwater, among other issues. This can pose a serious health risk to our community. Help keep our community free of dog waste by picking up your pet’s waste and disposing of properly.
The Village has an ordinance on cleaning up after your animal. If you are caught on camera or someone reports you not cleaning up after your animal you will be fined in line with ordinance 2011-3-3 (Title IX Chapter 90.27).
