on Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia in April

 

TOLEDO, OH, April 3, 2025— Zahn Marion Township Branch Library in Chickasaw will host a free Alzheimer’s Association education program on Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia on Thurs., April 24 at noon, 5 East Franklin Street, Chickasaw, OH.

“This informative program will answer a variety of questions about Alzheimer's disease,” said Pam Myers, senior director, programs for the Alzheimer's Association Northwest Ohio and Central Ohio Chapters.

 

 Attendees will learn the difference between Alzheimer's and other types of dementia; how Alzheimer’s affects the brain; how to identify risks and stages of the disease; information on current FDA-approved treatments; and resources available through the Alzheimer's Association free of charge.

 

“Our hope is that this program will help attendees better understand what they might face when receiving an Alzheimer’s diagnosis and how they could be impacted by this disease.”

 

There are 236,200 Ohioans 65 and older living with Alzheimer's disease according to the Alzheimer’s Association 2024 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures. A total of 414,000 Ohio caregivers provide 624 million hours of unpaid care each year, valued at $11.4 billion.
