Join us on Wednesday, April 16th, for our Tenebrae Service.
Tenebrae is a service whose roots go back over millennia.
During the service, hymns and readings, the ones proper to Lauds and Matins for the days of the Triduum, are read aloud as candles are extinguished one by one until the church is left in darkness.
At that point, a loud noise is produced, symbolizing the earthquake after Christ’s death.
This service allows us to meditate deeply upon the Passion Story, Christ's betrayal, abandonment, and agony. We are left remembering that Christ will fulfill His mission at the Resurrection.
