Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services Medic Unit Involved in Accident During Transport

 

Sidney, Ohio – At approximately 5:57 a.m. on February 15, 2025, a Sidney Fire and Emergency Services medic unit was involved in an auto accident near Piqua while transporting a patient.

 

The unit was en route to the Troy Sheetz gas station to transfer a patient, who had been injured in a prior accident on Interstate 75 near Sidney, to a Miami Valley Hospital Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU). During transport, the medic unit was involved in a collision with a semi-truck and sustained moderate damage.

 

Three Sidney firefighters were aboard the medic unit at the time of the incident, along with the patient. A Piqua medic transported one firefighter from the scene to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy for evaluation. Two other firefighters returned to Sidney, where one was assessed at Wilson Health. The third firefighter did not require medical treatment at this time.

 

The patient being transported was successfully transferred to the Miami Valley MICU at the scene of the accident. No additional details on the conditions of those involved are available at this time.
