Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has announced he is nominating former Ohio State football coach and Youngstown State University president Jim Tressel to serve as his lieutenant governor. 

Tressel's nomination comes after former Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted was selected to replace Vice President JD Vance in the US Senate. 

DeWine's nomination of Tressel must be approved by both the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives.
