Klopfenstein, King Introduce Legislation to Designate Lt. James A. Kirkendall Memorial Highway
COLUMBUS – State Reps. Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) and Angie King (R-Celina) recently introduced legislation to designate a portion of US Route 33 in Auglaize County as the Lt. James A. Kirkendall Memorial Highway.
Lt. Kirkendall was a member of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and was killed in the line of duty on October 28, 1970.
He was the post commander of Post 81 in Van Wert at the time of his death. “We must always remember and honor the sacrifices our first responders make for the safety of our communities,” said Klopfenstein.
“Lt. Kirkendall was a public servant, and this highway will be a small way to honor his great legacy.” “May this highway be a reminder to all who travel through Auglaize County of Lt. Kirkendall’s bravery and dedication to protecting his state,” said King.
The legislation awaits a bill number and House committee assignment.
