Ohio Jobless Claims for Sunday, January 19, 2025, through Saturday, January 25, 2025
This week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) provided updated data on
unemployment claims filed in Ohio the week of January 19, 2025-January 25, 2025. These
statistics were shared with the U.S. Department of Labor.
Ohioans filed 7,263 initial unemployment claims last week, which was 1,344 fewer than the
previous week. Approximately 973 of those have been flagged for more stringent identity
verification, to ensure they are not fraudulent.
Ohioans filed 71,128 continued unemployment claims last week, which was 3,571 fewer than
the previous week.
The total number of claims filed from January 19, 2025-January 25, 2025, was 78,391.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in December was 4.4%. The national unemployment rate in
December was 4.1%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in December was 62.6%. The national
labor force participation rate in December was 62.5%.
ODJFS works in partnership with local workforce development boards and local staff to provide
employment and training services at 88 OhioMeansJobs Centers throughout the state.

resumes, and practice interviewing.
